COVID-X Program boosts the market uptake of data-driven technology solutions tackling the clinical challenges of COVID-19 related to diagnosis, prognosis and follow-up of patients. It is a European initiative for digital innovation supported by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Program.
It has organized two COVID-X Open Calls for European SMEs and healthcare providers with the goal to select 30+ technology providers that obtain 4M€ of equity-free funding, join the COVID-X Acceleration Program and benefit from COVID-X Data Sandbox. This tailored support aims at driving the selected AI solutions faster to the markets serving the European healthcare systems and supporting the patient care.
The Open Call #2, running from early June until the 22nd of July 2021, attracted applications from a varied range of Start-Ups and SMEs around Europe, resulting into:
79 final submitted applications (43 single solutions from tech companies and 36 team solutions gathering a tech company and a healthcare provider).
Candidate solutions from 24 countries.
By the 7th of August, the eligible applicants, meeting the key selection criteria, are selected for the 2nd round of application closing on the 15th of September. Once the external evaluation process of the 2nd application phase is complete, the successful solutions will be announced at the end of October.
